Talk to her is a film about two men who become friends as a result of the two women they both love falling into comas. One of the men, Marco knew his woman, Lydia before she fell into a coma. The male nurse, Benigno only knew his girl, Alicia by spying on her from afar and spoke to her twice briefly before her coma. Lydia was a matador and she was hit by a bull during one of her sessions. Lydia was going ot break up with Marco after her bull fight and tell him she was getting back with her ex boyfriend. Because Marco was never told about this, he would go onto stray with her at her comatose bedside and eventually he became friends with the male nurse Benigno. Benigno and Marco began having disturbing comatose play dates with Lydia and Alicia because Benigno thought it would help the two girls if they were treated as if they weren’t in comas. Eventually Marco finds out Lydia was leaving him when her ex boyfriend shows up at her bedside. Before Marco leaves he and Benigno speak about Alicia and Benigno tells Marco that he is in love with Alicia and wants to marry her and he believes Alicia is in love with him. Marco tells Benigno never to speak of that again and never to repeat it to another person. Marco leaves the area and 6 months later he reads the newspaper and the headline read that Lydia had died. Marco then calls the hospital to talk to Benigno and he is told that Benigno is in jail for raping and impregnating his “love”, Alicia. Marco then flies back to speak with the other rehabilitation nurse at the hospital and he with Benigno and he finds out that Alicia gave birth to a still born. Marco then moves into Benigno’s old apartment since he no longer needed it with being in jail. While peering through the window of the apartment, Marco sees Alicia is in the dance studio across from Benigno’s apartment. Marco decides not to tell Benigno what he has learned. Being alone in prison and being mentally disturbed, Benigno dfecides to overdose on pills so he could fall into a coma and be with Alicia. His plan backfires and instead of becoming comatose, he dies.
The major theme of the film is that psychosis and obsession knows no boundaries, just as love. I thought this film was really good. It started off kind of slow, but it becomes really interesting by the middle and it kept me entertained until the end.
